Low fat/sugar exquisite cakes in Lagos

Vegan chocolate sponge cake, Genoa sponge cake, banana cake, carrot cake, low sugar and non iced cakes are now all available in Lagos. For those with lactose intolerance (many if not most black people are lactose intolerant to some degree, often without knowing it), and those keen to enjoy lovingly made, low-fat and/or low sugar baked treats, contact Tricia on 0809 934 8003.

I'm half english, half nigerian. does that make me half tolerant of dairy products? Also being referred to as Black is really pissing me off today for some reason. Why are we still calling each other black or white, why not of African descent or European descent. I don't know it just seems really archaic and racist actually to refer to someone's skin color as opposed to ethnic origin.

I think the science will tell you its actually physiology/genetics which determines whether you are susceptible to lactose-intolerance (or other forms of food intolerance), rather than ethnicity!

Being of African descent is less an ethnic marker than a racial one (unless you happen to believe African cultures have more in common with each other than they do with non-African cultures - a debatable proposition to say the least).

Put shortly, I don't see how being thought of as 'black' or 'white' is any more overtly racialised a vocabulary than being referred to of African or European descent. Ethnicity has little to do with either.

Abi Oh!

Though I'm mixed race, I identify myself as Black not because of the colour of my skin but because of my social experiences...I grew up within the Black community and generally feel at home with them.... hence the choice of identity.
