The Face of the philosopher. Been reading the fascinating new biog of Nietzsche by Curtis Cate. One thing strikes me is the difference between the severe Victorian expressions in most images of Nietzsche (the one below is perhaps the one available with the softest expression) and the description of him by those who knew him of a man with a soft voice, with a face animated by childish enthusiasm. Look at the pic and imagine him smiling, then throwing his head back in dionysian laughter.. Posted by Hello
