Happy Holidays to you too, Jeremy.

Look forward to catching up with you properly in the New Year.

What ever happened to Merry Christmas? Or are you being an Anytown, Britain busybody PC town councillor, wishing people Happy Winterval etc...

Sarah 10:04 am

I am presuming that comment is aimed at Jeremy, nkem?
However, since I am prone to taking things personally I'll also clarify. My comment was aimed at Jeremy as he is off on his holidays (there's an unfortunate capitalisation in there, I grant you) - and I've no idea what winter festival he celebrates these days..it's been 20 years, you see...

Happy Christmas to you, though.

Happy holidays is a bit of an Americanism I grant you. Perhaps I should have said, Happy Saturnalia - after all - this is one of the oldest pre-Christian origins of what we now call 'Christmas'...

Happy Holidays and travel safe!

Happy holidays. Not fair. Have a wonderful time. For the first time ever, we will be in Nigeria. Not sure what it will be like but looking forward to it anyway. I was last in Delhi three years ago. Greetings to madam Bibi for me O! Take lots of pictures and please post them up when you get back.

Hey Jeremy,

I have enjoyed you blog for over a year now. It helped me to prepare for the Nigerian life I now live and keeps me otherwise informed of things I have no time to inform myself about these days.
You have a well deserved holiday with Bibi. Perhaps I will come to Abuja in the new year for another Yoga class with you guys!

Try and eat properly when you get there.
I look at pictures of you from 5+ years ago and you look very pale and sickly now compared to them.

This veganism is just lowering your immunity, i tell you!

I am envious, particularly with the fog in London at present. Have a lovely restful holiday and I look forward to your posts in 2007. I hope there will be a lot more positive stuff to write about in Nigeria. We can only hope, can't we? Love to you and Bibi.
Merry Christmas!

I got this from a colleague. Laugh away....

'Christmas Greetings to Everyone

I wanted to send some sort of Christmas greeting to my friends and colleagues, but it is so difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say without offending someone. So I met with my attorney yesterday, and on his advice I wish to say the following:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Great Britain great (not to imply that Great Britain is necessarily greater than any other country) and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms:

This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

Disclaimer: No trees were harmed in the sending of this message; however, a significant number of electrons were slightly inconvenienced.'

Ha ha ha - what a world in which we live.

I was reading your blog for the first time and my first impression was, poor chap, wonder what he's done to be exiled from his country and left for dead in Nigeria, read on and thought this guy has lost his damn mind, he's actually not trying to escape, he's taking vacations and returning?! MISTER, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?? everyone's trying to leave and you're coming back???? for the love of God, WHHHHYYY!!!

What is this whole thing about high technology in India if this blog does not get updated?

Do we have to send out a search party, all these sub-continental holidays do give me the creeps.

Anyway, Happy New Year to you both and get some material moving on this blog - Pronto.
