African states and the legacy of colonialism

Interesting event at the British Library 1st November at the British Library, here. The centrepiece will be a showing of Jide Olanrewaju's excellent documentary history of modern Nigerian, Naij.

Surprised that no one has commented. Just shows how colonialism is becoming an increasingly difficult topic for our generation to talk about.

Don't get me wrong, I think that there is SO much to be learned from interrogating that era of our past.

What I'm sick of (and probably why young people feel such a disconnect from colonial history) is the way our forebears talked about colonialism. Read Achebe's "Novelist as Teacher" and you might see what I'm referring to.
